Well, vintage race fans Strada Corsa Houston is coming May 5-7 for its first inaugural event to be held at the Johnson Space Center. The event sponsors and coordinators are hoping to make this an annual event that will culminate in to a week long car event. Not only will this event have racing but there are also going to be accompanying vintage car display’s as well as of course aeronautical exhibits to celebrate space flight.
Nasa & Vintage Car Exhibits
There is also rumored to be a vintage car auction as well as some extravagant star-studded parties to accompany this event. Nasa exhibits will include, the Mars rover, Orion space capsule and the space shuttle perched atop a 747, as well as the James Webb telescope and mission control.
The proceeds of the event are to go to Texas charities. The event will be organized by Cragg Eubanks and his L’Equipe Management, LLC.
Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing is to be the sanctioning body at this event’s races. This mid and southwest based company is a for non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to promote ethical and historically as well as safety conscious accurate auto racing. Currently the organization consists of about 320 members and oversees vintage auto racing events in Texas as well as Oklahoma.
Strada Corsa Houston Details
The event is to be held on a 3.4-mile street course which will consist of the boulevards of the Johnson Space Center. This track will feature a mile long straight way which is sure to make for some interesting fast paced racing. The track looks to be a course that should be fun for racers as well as spectators. Entrance will compete in 8 race groups and some of the cars you will be seeing entered into these events will be vintage vehicles from Formula 5000, Formula 1, Historic Pony cars as well as 50’s sport racing vehicles.
The event should bring about 30,0000 spectators as well as 300 racers to the Johnson Space Center and be sure to thrill race car as well as space exploration enthusiast alike. The event will also bring some notable names in racing with it. Slated to attend are 1990
Le Mans winner Price Cobb (Jaguar XJR-12), 1990 Daytona and ’96 Le Mans winner Davy Jones, auto writer Peter Egan.
