2017 has brought some new cars to the market as always and we decided to write on the 12 hottest cars according to Forbes. While were not in total agreement on their pick of the 12 hottest cars of 2017 the majority of their picks are on point and even the ones we think are so so are for sure interesting. Ok, so let’s dive into this thing and see what they think the top twelve cars of 2017 are.
12 Hottest Cars of 2017:
Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is the first on the list and man we can’t agree more. We are not surprised that this car made 12 Hottest Cars of 2017 list! This car has been on our radar forever. While Alfa Romeo is not big in America you see these little Italian sports cars all over Europe. The Giulia comes from a rich race history and when it comes to the Quadrifolio it delivers that history with a 50/50 balanced 505 HP beast that handles like no ones business and a top speed of 191mph. This is the top of the line of the Giulia line with a hefty price starting at $72,000 its not exactly a cheap car but for what you get its worth every penny. You also have the regular Giulia and the TI that start at $37,000 – $39,000. Both of these Alfa Romeos are amazing sport sedans in their own right. But for me its Quadrifoglio or bust!
Aston Martin DB11
Well, it’s an Aston Martin so how can you go wrong with the new Aston Martin DB11. The lines of this vehicle are sexy and sleek as ever and the 5.2-liter V12 twin turbo engine will take you from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. Top speed on this bad boy is 200mph. The engine boasts 608hp and delivers 700nm of torque at maximum. So that’s on how bad ass the motor is. But wait there’s more! The DB11 also comes equipped with driver controllable dynamics. The interior, as well as the exterior of this car, are just works of art to see. All the words don’t do this car justice. You have to see the Aston Martin DB11 in person to really be able to appreciate it fully. Now to own one you will need to reach deep into your pocket and come up with an MSRP of $214,820. Get a house or a car….. decisions decisions!
So now we go from super sexy to functional and environmentally friendly….
Chevrolet Bolt
The Chevrolet Bolt is an attempt by Chevy to compete with Tesla. This is an electric car with a range of around 238 miles before needing a charge. Starting price on these is about $37,000. The electric motor makes 200hp and produces 266-foot pounds of torque. So this little car isn’t just going to sit around, it’s going to move. It will go from 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds. So your not going to win any races against the DB11 or the Quadrifoglio but that is not what this electric car is about. It’s about producing a quality electric vehicle with a comfortable interior and plenty of room and that is precisely what Chevrolet has accomplished with the Bolt.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
For all you Camaro fans this is the ultimate Camaro! This thing literally is a beast boasting a super charged V8 that makes 650hp. Not just the motor but everything about this car screams speed and good old American muscle coming at ya! So I am sure all you Camaro fans are not surprised to see this ride on the 12 Hottest Cars of 2017 list. The interior is also finely crafted and looks great. This car is just as comfortable on the track as it is blazing down the highway. A convertible version will also be available early in 2017. You have a choice in a manual 6 speed or an automatic 10-speed transmission with paddle shift. Everything about this car was designed with speed, aerodynamics, and handling. So if you’re a speed freak and you like Camaro’s this is definitely a car you will want in your garage. Starting price on the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is $61,140 and considering what you are getting that is a great price for the horsepower.
Hyundai Genesis G90
This luxury vehicle comes in number 8 overall when it comes to luxury vehicles according to Car and Driver. The base model starts at $69,000 and goes to $73,000. You can choose from a turbo charged V6 3.3 liter engine producing 365hp or a 5 liter V8 that puts out 420hp. Either configuration comes with a 8 speed automatic as well as a rear or all wheel drive. The Hyundai Genesis G90 comes with all of the amenities you would expect from a luxury automobile like a BMW or Benz at a more reasonable price point. Another nice feature is the 3 year 36,000 mile scheduled maintenance that is included. The Genesis G90 also comes with adaptive control suspension for a ride that can adjust to different road conditions. The cockpit is luxurious and laid out to put all controls within easy reach making it ergonomic enough to pass the Aktion Gesunder Rücke campaign that is inspired to save backs. Everything in the interior of this luxury car screams luxury. Some of the amenities included in the Genesis G90 are: Chrome Side Windows Trim, Chrome Front Windshield Trim and Chrome Rear Window Trim, Fixed Rear Window w/Defroster and Power Blind, Power Open And Close Trunk Rear Cargo Access, Front Fog Lamps, Radio w/Seek-Scan, Clock, Steering Wheel Controls and Voice Activation, Performance Speakers, Heated & Vented Front Bucket Seats w/Memory -inc: 22-way power driver w/power lumbar, power cushion extender, shoulder and bolster adjustment and 16-way power front passenger w/power lumbar adjustment, Cruise Control w/Steering Wheel Controls and Rear HVAC w/Separate Controls are just some of the things on the list. The list of conveniences this car offers is quite long.
Fiat 124 Spider
The Fiat 124 Spider is a new choice instead of the Mazda Miata. This Fiat 124 Spider does borrow some of the components from the Miata like its chassis and various other parts but its main components like suspension and engine are its own. You have a choice of manual or automatic in the Spider. The engine is a 1.4-liter turbo charged 4 cylinder making 160hp. It’s a rear wheel drive so it will be fun to drive. Gas mileage is pretty good on this little roadster at 26 city and 35mpg on the highway. The current MSRP on the Fiat 124 Spider is $29,190 which is a reasonable entry price for a little roadster to have fun around town with while still killing it on the gas mileage!
Hyundai Ioniq
The Hyundai Ioniq makes the 12 hottest cars of 2017 list with three choices you can get the Hybrid, plugin or the electric. The Hybrid is just as you would expect a Hybrid powered by a 1.4l that makes exceptional gas mileage. The Plug-in which will be available in the fall which will function as an electric as well as a Hybrid meaning you can plug it in and charge it or run it on gas when you need it. Personally we find this concept the ideal marriage of these technologies. Last we have the Electric which will be available in the spring of 2017 and this will be just that a fully electric car that you can plug in at home or the office and get a charge and go. The guys at Hyundai did not skimp on modern comforts like heated seats, a sunroof and blind spot detection just to name a few things this vehicle comes equipped with. We can see why this car made the hottest cars of 2017 list even tho its not a super car it looks to be a great daily driver with lots of choices in how you want to power it. The Hybrid currently available starts at a bas price of around $29k.
Jaguar XE
The 2017 Jaguar XE makes the 12 hottest cars of 2017 list as the compact luxury sedan to be in its price class. Starting at $34K its a pretty reasonably priced luxury vehicle to get into. Also, Jaguar’s come with a 5-year 60,000mile warranty so you won’t have to worry about repairs for a while. There maybe some fine print so definitely consult with Jaguar on warranty details. Motor trend has named the XE the best handling sports sedan there is, so driving won’t be a disappointment in this Jag. You have a choice of 4 different Jaguar XE models depending on your needs and budget. You can choose from the XE, XE Premium, XE Prestige and the XE R Sport. Guess which we would pick? Sport anyone? The 2017 Jaguar XE comes equipped with either its standard 2.0-liter turbo charged engine or an available 2.0-liter diesel as well as a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 depending on your choice.
Lexus LC 500
That the Lexus LC class makes the 12 hottest cars of 2017 list is no surprise. Just looking at this car makes you want to drive it. The exterior looks as exceptionally luxurious as its interior. This luxury coupe has everything you would expect from it. It also comes in a Hybrid version that is equally impressive. Now the sticker on this beauty starts at $95k or so, so its not for those of us that are on a tight budget. One of the characteristics of this car is that it’s steering actually gives you road texture feedback which is a dying thing with modern assisted steering technologies. Kojiro Sato the chief engineer in charge of the LC class describes this car as a back to basics vehicle meaning that all the traditional fundamentals are covered in this luxury coupe. Ok lets get down to some numbers on the Lexus LC. The Hybrid runs on a 3.5 liter V6 combined with the AC motor/generator, the pair makes a total of 354hp while the non Hybrid comes with a 5 liter V8 that makes 471hp. The Hybrid is designed to resemble the gas powered V8 model in looks and feel with small difference due to it’s Hybrid technology.
Lincoln Continental
The Lincoln Continental makes the 12 hottest cars of 2017 list to restore some glory back to the Lincoln brand when it comes to a mid-size luxury sedan offering by this car maker. The continental features the latest luxury technology like 10-way adjustable seats, a 10 speaker audio system, Sync3 technology offers hands-free operation of phones and texting. You can also get a rear seat package which upgrades the comfort features for rear passengers. The Lincoln offers some choices in power for this vehicle all coming in a V6 configuration but varying in horsepower from 305 to 400 hp on the top model. The standard is a front wheel drive but that can be upgraded to all wheel if you so desire. Base price on the Lincoln starts at $45,600.
Toyota 86
The Toyota 86 makes the 12 hottest cars of 2017 list by replacing the more known Scion FR-S which Toyota decided to kill off. Well they killed the whole Scion brand but they kept the FR-S and turned it in to the 86 which is what this vehicle was known as outside of the USA anyhow. This well balanced sports car has been known to handle exceptionally and its boxer V4 makes 205hp but is easily enhanced with turbo’s and such by the aftermarket tuner crowd making it a popular choice for the budget conscious but still wanna be cool crowd. You have a choice in a 6 speed manual or the optional 6 speed automatic. Why in the world you would want this car in anything but a manual is beyond me but I guess not everyone knows how to handle a stick these days. The rear wheel drive and balanced chassis makes this a really fun car to drive down twistie roads. Its also a popular and inexpensive choice in a drift car from what we hear. The sporty lines will definietly also get peoples attention as you cruise around town especially if you pair it with a aftermarket exhaust and some hot wheels to go with it.
Volvo S90/V90
The last vehicle on the 12 hottest cars of 2017 is the Volvo S90 or V90 which are basically the same car in a sedan or wagon configuration. We will say were not Volvo fans. That does not mean that they don’t make a good reliable car and the Volvo’s of old were near indestructible tanks. Ok now that we got that out of the way on to this Volvo.
Ok, lets start with the S90. You have a choice of some different 4 cylinders to power the S90. There is your base 350hp turbo to your 316hp turbocharged and supercharged model. The interior is nice and luxurious in this vehicle as well as the exterior having nice sleek lines. The S90 tries to compete with the smaller Benz classes and does so well. Volvo has always been a car maker that marches to its own drummer and this is apparent in all their vehicles. One of the interesting features of this vehicle is the Pilot assist which can steer the car up to 80mph. The S90 offers a quiet ride and excellent braking characteristics.
The V90 is the wagon version of the S90. The V90 looks great and is also available in a cross country version. The base engine in this wagon is a 250hp 4 cylinder or the 316hp turbo charged super charged 4 in the cross country. The cross country also comes in an available 4wd.
This concludes our overview of the 12 hottest cars of 2017. We welcome any input on what you think of the list. Remember this is the list according to Forbes. I think we would have probably swapped out a few of these for something else, but overall we like most of the pics on the list!
